Music In Our Schools
The Music In Our Schools tour is a signature concert series held in partnership with Radio Disney and the National Association for Music Education. In past years for Music In Our Schools Month, we have sent popular musicians around the country to highlight powerful school music programs. Each school selected received a special community concert and a Give A Note grant to contribute to their program. The tour also helped bring awareness to music education and its value in students’ lives.
The 2017 Tour
Last year’s Music In Our Schools Tour started in mid-February. We toured the country to award Give A Note Foundation grants and hosted celebration concerts by Radio Disney.
In 2017, four out of the ten schools we visited were winners of the “Music Ed Matters” Chapter Challenge. Each of these schools were recognized for their outstanding fundraising efforts in support of music education programs. At these special stops, the student advocates actually awarded their donation to the Give A Note Foundation to benefit underserved schools around the country.
The 2017 Winning Schools
We are thrilled to announce the six winning schools for the 2017 tour during Music In Our Schools Month®. Each school’s entry was reviewed and voted upon. While all the entrants were exceptional, the public voted for these six to receive the special recognition on tour. Thank you to the students and teachers who created videos, as well as the friends and family that voted and shared our mission and contest.
Congratulations to these six schools:
Ramona High School, Riverside, CA
Joliet Central High School, Joliet, IL
Salina South Middle School, Salina, KS
