21st Century Fox Honors “American Idol” Finale with Generous Gift Supporting Music in Schools

The partnership between 21st Century Fox (21CF) and the Give a Note Foundation has brought more than $1 million to underfunded music programs around the United States since 2011. Most recently in fall 2015, 21CF joined Give a Note in presenting grants to 16 schools across the country.

Today the two groups announced a new wave of 21st Century Fox Give a Note grants, which will support up to 20 under-funded music education programs at schools across the United States. The partnership commemorates the series finale of “American Idol,” the cultural phenomenon that changed the face of television and created some of music’s biggest stars. This long-running series has inspired millions of young students to learn more about and participate in school music programs across the country.

“We are thrilled and grateful to 21st Century Fox for their ongoing generosity and dedication to supporting music in our schools,” said Beth Slusher, Give a Note President and Board Chair. “In its 15 seasons, ‘American Idol’ has vividly demonstrated the importance of music in the lives of our students, as so many young artists have showcased their talent on the stage over the years. We are excited to see where this latest partnership will lead as we honor the finale of ‘American Idol’ with a new grant program to reach even more schools across the country.”

This continued partnership builds on the long-standing relationship between the two groups dating back to the 2011 GLEE Give a Note campaign, which also funded at-risk school music programs.

Give a Note will assist 21CF in identifying those schools with the greatest need. Give a Note engages the business community to play a critical role in resource development and awareness-raising activities that improve access to music education. Fans can show their support by retweeting #IdolGAN.

AMERICAN IDOL will kick off a three-night Grand Finale week on Tuesday, April 5 (8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), with AMERICAN IDOL: AMERICAN DREAM. The following night, America’s most crucial – and last-ever – vote will take place when the remaining finalists battle it out live from Dolby Theatre on Wednesday, April 6 (8:00-9:00 PM live ET/tape-delayed PT), and the final IDOL will be crowned on Thursday, April 7 (8:00-10:06 PM live ET/tape-delayed PT).
